Why we built TSPA; A Welcome from the President

Dear Colleague,

A few years ago, if someone had asked me whether Texas needed its own society for Pathologists' Assistants, my answer would have been simple:

Absolutely.

Not because we needed another organization. Not because we needed another membership fee or another meeting on the calendar.

We needed each other.

As Pathologists' Assistants, we spend our days supporting patients, pathology teams, students, and one another. We teach, mentor, troubleshoot, advocate, and help move healthcare forward. Yet many of us do this work within our own institutions, often without a broader connection to the colleagues across Texas who share the same challenges, experiences, and goals.

I've always believed that Texas Pathologists' Assistants deserve a stronger connection to one another. We may work in different cities, health systems, and laboratories, but we share a common commitment to excellence in patient care and to advancing our profession. That's why a group of us came together to create the Texas Society of Pathologists' Assistants (TSPA).

TSPA was founded with a simple vision: to unite Pathologists' Assistants across the Lone Star State and build a stronger future for our profession. Through networking, education, mentorship, leadership opportunities, and advocacy, we hope to create a community where PAs can learn from one another, support one another, and work together to strengthen our profession for Texas today and tomorrow.

Today, I'm inviting you to be part of that vision.

By becoming a member of TSPA, you're doing more than joining an organization. You're helping create a professional home for current and future Pathologists' Assistants across Texas. You're helping build a connected workforce of professionals who can collaborate, share knowledge, mentor future PAs, and ensure that our profession continues to thrive throughout the state.

Because we're building TSPA from the ground up, we're also seeking donations to help establish a strong foundation for the organization. Your support will help fund educational programs, student outreach, professional development opportunities, and initiatives that strengthen and elevate Pathologists' Assistants across Texas.

Every thriving organization begins because a group of people decides something important is worth building. We are at that moment right now.
